Polygon Adds Solana to Open Money Stack for Stablecoin Payments

October 29, 2026. Polygon Labs has expanded its Open Money Stack (OMS) to support Solana-based payment products, bringing banking access, embedded wallets, cross-chain transfers and fiat payouts into one integrated offering. The company says businesses building on Solana can now use the platform to collect funds, move stablecoins between supported networks and deliver payouts without assembling each component themselves.

The announcement is about more than moving tokens between blockchains. Polygon already offered Solana-to-Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) routing through its Trails service in August. The new step is to connect those transfers with the accounts, conversion services and payout infrastructure required for a complete business payment. Polygon describes the Solana expansion as live, although individual services remain subject to applicable requirements and availability. Polygon’s October 29 announcement outlines the offering.

What Polygon Open Money Stack Adds for Solana Businesses

Open Money Stack is a collection of payment services accessed through an integrated interface. A business can use the full stack or select components alongside its existing providers. According to Polygon, the Solana integration brings together the following functions:

  • Pay-ins: accept funding through supported bank transfers, cards, cash or cryptocurrency channels.
  • Accounts and wallets: associate incoming payments with virtual accounts and hold supported assets using custodial or embedded Solana wallets.
  • Conversion and routing: exchange supported assets and move value between Solana, TRON and EVM-compatible networks.
  • Payouts: convert supported digital assets back to fiat and disburse through eligible bank accounts, cards, cash services or wallets.

The practical distinction is between a blockchain transfer and a completed payment. Sending a stablecoin to another wallet does not, by itself, provide a customer with a bank account or allow a supplier to receive local currency. Those additional steps require financial partners, transaction monitoring, reconciliation and access to payout rails. OMS is intended to coordinate those steps while the business retains its customer-facing product.

How a Solana Stablecoin Payment Could Work

Consider a marketplace that needs to pay an overseas seller. Its buyer funds a transaction through a supported bank or card channel. The platform converts that money into an eligible stablecoin, credits a Solana wallet or account, and routes the value to the network or asset required for settlement. If the seller needs money in a bank account rather than in a wallet, an off-ramp completes the fiat payout.

That is an illustrative payment path, not evidence that every bank, currency or country is supported. The precise route depends on the business’s configuration, eligible assets, compliance checks and local financial partners. Polygon’s announcement does not establish a universal fee, settlement time or geographic coverage for every combination.

Which networks and assets are supported?

Polygon lists USDC, USDT, PayPal USD (PYUSD), SOL and wrapped SOL among the assets supported by its routing infrastructure across Solana, TRON and EVM networks. It also says its embedded-wallet API can now create and manage Solana accounts through the same general interface used for EVM wallets. Support for a token or network should not be read as a promise that every possible pair or payout route is available to every customer.

There is a useful chronology here: Polygon described Solana cross-chain routing through Trails on August 3. The October 29 announcement extends that relationship into the broader pay-in-to-payout workflow. It is therefore inaccurate to describe this week’s update as Polygon’s first-ever technical connection to Solana.

Coinme and Kira Show the Banking Side of the Strategy

The expansion follows Polygon’s October 14 announcement that it had completed its acquisition of Coinme. Polygon says its U.S. payments business has coverage across 48 states, comprising 37 state money transmitter licenses and 11 applicable exemptions, and is registered with the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network as a money services business. These are company-reported regulatory details; they do not mean that every Polygon service is approved in every market or that using a service removes a business’s own compliance obligations.

Kira, a provider connecting U.S. dollar accounts and stablecoin transfers for cross-border businesses, is among the early customers cited for the Solana expansion. In reporting published by The Block on October 29, Kira’s chief executive described using Polygon to help turn Solana-based stablecoin transfers into dollars in clients’ bank accounts for supplier payments. That is an attributed customer example, not independently published transaction-performance data.

What Businesses Should Verify Before Integrating

For fintechs, remittance companies and marketplaces, the potential benefit is fewer technical handoffs between a bank deposit, an onchain balance and a final payout. But consolidating access through one platform does not eliminate banking, blockchain or counterparty risks. Teams assessing OMS should establish which legal entity provides each regulated service, which countries and corridors are eligible, who controls wallets, which assets and payout methods are supported, and how costs, exceptions and failed payments are handled.

There is also no basis in the announcement to conclude that the integration will necessarily raise the price of SOL or POL. It is a product-infrastructure development; any impact on token demand would depend on actual usage, fee arrangements and network activity that have not been established by this announcement.

The bottom line: Polygon is positioning its Open Money Stack as a way for Solana-focused businesses to connect stablecoin settlement with ordinary financial accounts and payout channels. The meaningful development on October 29 is the addition of a fuller commercial payment workflow -not the invention of cross-chain transfers – and its real-world value will depend on supported routes, customer adoption and operational performance.
